Last days I’ve been to European Christian Internet Conference XV in Sigtuna. Ecic is a network for churchworkers that try to preach internet into the church and to christians. Apparently I had to be here, since this is exactly what I work with. Church of Sweden has attended the conference several years earlier but none of the other churches in Sweden has ever attended. Actually it seems I am the only baptist that has attended the conference ever, for 15 years time. The conference i certainly ecumenical though. We are both catholics and protestants, lutheran, reformed and anglican.
It is exciting days, especially the networking with people from different contexts and situations. In some ways you can recognize much of the old church thoughts to lock oneself in to your own copied versions of the new media (for instance in my opinion there is way too much attention to Second Life and different Church Islands and such things), but it’s certainly not all. Much of the conversations is really progressive and challenging. Still much of the practise remains though – not the least in social media.
Anyway. I also had a presentation about Amen.se and my thoughts about Church and Internet. Right below I embed both the presentation on vimeo and also the prezi-slides so you can slide yourself while listening to me.
So. Who will follow me to Munich next year? It would be great if we could go a whole delegation from the free churches of Sweden, don’t you think. Ask me if you’d like to hear more about it!
